This tutorial will walk you though using power supplies, scopes, and the wave generator on a Digilent in an inverting operational amplifier circuit.

What you’ll need:

Digilent Set Up

  1. Attach jumpers to the following on the DAD:
    1. Scope 1 and 2
    2. Ground
    3. Power supplies
    4. Wave generator

  1. Plug DAD into raspberry pi and run WaveForms 2

  2. Open scope, supplies, and Wavegen from the welcome menu:

  3. In supplies set voltages to +5V and -5V. This is the maximum the DAD can supply. They’ll be the rails for your op amp circuit.

  4. Set wavegen to a sin wave, square wave, DC, whatever you want! Keep in mind that the output voltage is limited by your rails. I limited mine to 200mV to stay well within rails.

Building your Circuit

  1. Choose resistors for your inverting op amp set up. Gain in an inverting op amp circuit looks like: Vout= -(R2/R1)Vin. The circuit is pictured below.
